Koh Tao studios stands on the hillside in Tanote Bay & Ao Leuk, among the island’s quieter east-coast coves rather than the busy west-coast strip. The surrounding coast has steep access roads, rocky headlands and small bays where coral lies close to shore. Aow Leuk Beach is 400 m away, while Tanote Bay Beach is 1.1 km away; Shark Bay Beach is 1.3 km away. The hillside setting brings wide sea views, while town services are less close at hand.

Mae Haad, where the island’s ferry pier is located, is about 2 km away at Lomprayah Koh Tao Pier. Ferries reach Koh Tao from Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Chumphon; the crossing from Koh Samui takes around 1.5–2 hours. From the pier, a pick-up truck taxi is a practical way to reach the property, as the concrete roads towards Tanote Bay and Ao Leuk have steep sections. Taxis charge per vehicle rather than per passenger. Free private parking is available on site if you arrive with a vehicle.

Snorkelling and diving are major draws along this coast, where coral lies close to the sand; hiking and viewpoints offer routes away from the water. Cindy's Tower is 800 m away, Love Koh Tao viewpoint is 1.1 km away, and Ao Sai Daeng is 1.2 km away. The east coast is generally the calmer side of the island from April to October. October to December is the wettest, roughest period, and ferries can be cancelled in rough seas. Shops and most everyday services are concentrated around Mae Haad and Sairee, so plan errands before heading to this quieter hillside.
